be inspired

I was born in Lamia and now live in Arkitsa, a small village in Greece. In 2011 I attended photography lessons at the Zografou artistic workshop in Athens. Since then I have participated in group exhibitions, my photos have been distinguished in competitions and I have been published in press and online. In 2017 I was an editor for and In 2017-2018, I attended the Supplementary Education Program of the National Kapodistrian University of Athens. In 2018 I completed remotely, the Seeing Through Photography programs at the Museum of Modern Art in New York (MOMA) and The Camera Never Lies at the University of London via their platform. In 2019 I was an editor for In 2020, completed remotely, the Modern Art & Ideas program at the Museum of Modern Art in New York (MOMA) and Sexing the Canvas: Art and Gender by the University of Melbourne.

In my series ROLL THE DICE, every image talks about the person. Human existence is hiding behind every capture. It concerns everyone who we are passing by at the same time, the ones that we meet randomly with a glimpse and that we turn away afterwards. They are strangers but familiar in the same time. All of them are immersed in thoughts. They are searching for something? They are chasing something? Sometimes even their own selves. They are people with needs, desires, and fears. You can meet them at forgotten ports, in impersonal cities, on streets. They are connected through a deep loneliness and under the words that they do not dare to say. Are they seeking for joy? Recognition? Or maybe a taxi to go? Photography for me is the mirror of the photographer. "All photographs are self-portraits” Minor White said. It does not deal with truth and reality. An inner world emerges and becomes real through this. It deals with the irrational, the illusion and the subconscious. The photography is a experience...a persistence....a glimpse...a promise never kept. Personally, I can say for sure that photography is a way of my existence, a kind of love that does not wear out as time goes by and my camera an eternal mistress The only thing that I’m sure about is that I don’t want to give answers, but to create questions. For me a capture should create doubts. Sometimes maybe I want to do a social comment. Other times, I want to express all the feelings that I hide. Sometimes I want to concern the viewers, or to provoke them, or to disturb them. Even to create some negative feelings to the viewer or disturb them I believe that this is a way of creating some sort of contact through your capture.
