ARTIST'S STATEMENT //

I am a chef. When I'm not at work I spend my time shooting black and white street photography, which I've been doing for the last few years. When I first started in photography, my interests we're completely different. I was drawn to nature more than anything and have spent many hours photographing insects and flowers. I did this for years and it wasn't until I started delving into online art communities that I discovered street photography, which spoke to me right away. I studied masters of the street genre like Ray Metzger, Trent Parke and Fan Ho. Like them, I adopted the idea of using light and shadow to strip an image down to its basic parts, to use light as a graphic element and at the same time draw the viewers eye to the subject. All in the hopes of catching a quiet moment that would otherwise go un-noticed. These are the things I constantly look for and try to refine when I'm out shooting.
