MEI SEVA
Mei Seva (b.1996) works primarily with photography, as well as film and archival research, to visualize contested histories and social and political myths, examining what is erased, marginalized, and transformed just below the surface.
Her work looks at how economic and political forces reshape communities and cultures, with particular attention to her homeland of Albania. Her practice falls into the post-documentary space, bringing a more lyrical and intimate perspective to sociopolitical issues.
She was a 2025 Fellow in the NYFA Immigrant Artist Mentoring Program and was a Lucie Foundation Finalist in Photojournalism/Documentary. She is an MFA (Photography) candidate at Columbia University, where she brings in her earlier training in political science — with a focus on social movements, revolutions, and global inequality.
