PICTORIAL STORIES

Pictorial Stories is where photographs become stories.

Pictorial Stories is dedicated to photographic projects that move beyond the single image. It is an ongoing space for documentary photographers and visual storytellers photographing anywhere in the world.

Each story brings photographs and text into conversation. Writing may take many forms — essays, poems, short narratives, or reflections. Photography comes first; from there, we work with artists to shape how the work is presented. If writing feels like a barrier, support is part of the process.​ If you’re unsure whether your submission fits, we encourage you to read through some of our published Pictorial Stories.

When you feel ready, submit your work using the form below.

PRONOUNS:

Assist us in this journey by divulging more about yourself, where you grew up, your educational background, your unique flair and muses, as well as your fervent interests and inspirations – the greater the details you offer, the better.

Upload 15-25 photographs with the following requirements:

  • 2000px the longest edge

  • 150dpi

  • sRGB

  • jpegs

  • no water marks or frames

Written text (500-2000 words)

PLEASE NOTE:

Once you press Submit, your submission will be processed in the following way.


  • The form will clear after submission. At the bottom of the empty form, you should see the message: “Thank you for your submission. Please allow up to 28 days for the editorial team to review.” You should also receive an email containing a copy of your submitted form.

If you do not see a confirmation message or do not receive a confirmation email, please contact us at admin@thepictorialist.org and we will check your submission for you.
